Overview
Frederick Swanston is looking for an experienced freelance WordPress Developer to partner with our internal team on a number of ongoing web projects. This is a contract role requiring approximately 30 hours per week, with flexibility to work remotely—though availability during Eastern Time business hours is important for collaboration.
The ideal candidate is highly skilled in HTML, CSS, JavaScript (jQuery), PHP and WordPress development, with experience building responsive, accessible, custom themes and plugins. You’ll work closely with our development and creative teams to bring designs to life and ensure every site functions flawlessly from the inside out.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY
- 5+ years of hands-on WordPress experience, including custom theme and plugin development
- Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS/SASS, JavaScript (jQuery), and PHP
- Experience converting layouts and wireframes into working web pages
- Expertise in developing responsive, accessible (WCAG 2.0AA) websites
- Familiarity with tools like Git, Figma, Sketch, and RESTful APIs (JSON/XML)
- Experience working with front-end build tools (Grunt, Gulp, Webpack) and package managers like NPM
- Previous use of popular WordPress plugins such as WPBakery, Revolution Slider, Gravity Forms, and The Events Calendar
- Comfortable working solo or within a collaborative team environment
- Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced agency setting
- Bonus: Drupal CMS experience, Google Tag Manager, WPEngine/Pantheon, healthcare website builds, digital design experience
